Two Hickses are listed here and I suspect these are my Kanawha/Greenbrier Hickses. After all, how many Achilles Hickses could there possibly have been in 1812?? However, the National Archives has no record of a pension for Achilles Hicks :-(

From "A History of Preston County, WV":

"The commands here represented are those of Capt. Leonard Cupp, Capt. Matthias McCowan, Capt. Samuel Kennedy and Lieut. Christian Conn. These commands are distinguished by the numerals, 1, 2, 3, 4. This list gives the separate enlistments but not the net number of individuals represented. In the second column is given the rank of the soldier, and in the third is given the command to which he belonged. In a few instances corrections have been made in the spelling of names. The compilation has been made from data supplied by Wileys history."

Capt. stands for Captain, Lieut. for Lieutenant, En. for Ensign, Ser. for Sergeant, Cor. for Corporal, M. for Musician, and P. for Private.
